The Internet, facilitating the flow of information across countries, is inherently transnational, much like the ocean that connects continents and islands. The governance of the internet and ocean affairs may share more similarities than commonly perceived. Fascinated by the parallels between internet data flow and maritime affairs, I began to explore issues at the intersection of transnational data flow and the maritime industry. My paper, “The Legal Compliance Challenge of AI Applications in the Maritime Industry: With Special Focus on Divergent Governance Models of Cross-Border Personal Data Transfer,” was first presented at the International Conference on Law and Policy of Maritime Industries last year. Thanks for the valuable comments from the session discussants, I subsequently revised and edited the manuscript for academic publication review. After months of anticipation, I am delighted to share that my paper has been accepted by the SCOPUS-indexed journal, International Trade Law and Regulation. :.゚ヽ(*´∀`)ノ゚.:。
Though the article still requires some revisions to meet the academic standard of the journal for final publication, I’m truly grateful that this topic is noticed and appreciated by the international academic community (AI is very hot topic at the moment but AI applications in the maritime industry are less noted).
